    REGULAR PLAYS:
    • Houston--Vandy UNDER 53 1/12
    • New Orleans--Philly UNDER 53 1/2

NORM'S LATE THOUGHTS: I can't believe that the line has swung so far that KC is now favored on the road at Indy. This usually happens in reaction to one of the top betting services putting out a team like KC as a huge pick. I'm staying with young Indy here

Here are your consensus college football bowl plays for Wednesday, Jan. 1. Happy New Year!

VERY STRONG PLAY: Wisconsin -2 South Carolina

    REGULAR PLAYS: Nebraska +9 Georgia
                                    North Teas -6 1/2 UNLV
                                    UCF +17 Baylor

NORM'S LATE THOUGHTS: Back to something we've touched on a few times this bowl season---the Pac-whatever has some strong teams. There are lots of people out there who like defensively  stout Michigan State against Stanford. but I simply cannot join them. The teams from this west coast conference have been solid in the post-season and I'm riding with the Tree. So:

Take Stanford -4 1/2 Michigan St

Also consider putting a light play on the under in this contest. Looks like a lower scoring game to me.

STRONG PLAY: Rice +7 Mississippi St.

REGULAR PLAYS: Duke +12 Texas A&M
                                    Virginia Tech +7 UCLA

NORM'S LATE THOUGHTS: Again I'm going to caution you about opposing teams from the Pac-whatever like UCLA while taking a team like Virginia Tech. I really respect the handicapper who put out  VT but I'm going to sit this game out.  Good luck

Here are your consensus plays on college football bowl games for Monday, Dec. 30.

STRONG PLAY: Mississippi -3 Georgia Tech

REGULAR PLAYS: Texas +14 1/2 Oregon

NORM'S LATE THOUGHTS: We already put out 4 plays today as picks (Arizona State, Navy, Texas and Arizona State--Texas Tech OVER). But I'm getting a bit queasy about the Texas play. What's bothering me is how teams from the Pac-whatever are beating up bowl opponents.

---USC torched Fresno. It was never a game.
---Oregon State routed Boise. Game over before halftime
---Washington pasted BYU. In control all the way.

Only a late Washington State collapse against Colorado State (ahead by 15 and fumbled it away in the fourth quarter) has kept this from being a clean sweep by this conference. I am worried about Oregon's mental state. They don't appear to have much to play for. But, if they get it rolling versus the Horns Texas may be one of the worst "play from behind" teams in the country. And, when Texas loses, they REALLY LOSE!!! Their four defeats this season have been by 19, 21, 25 and 20. I'll stay with Texas but I'm suggesting it be a light play at best here.

VERY STRONG PLAY: Baltimore +6 1/2 Cincy

STRONG PLAYS: New Orleans -12 1/2 Tampa Bay
                                  New England -7 1/2 Buffalo

REGULAR PLAYS: Chicago +3 Green Bay
                                     Cincy--Baltimore UNDER 43 1/2
                                     Washington +3 1/2 NY Giants
                                     Minnesota -2 1/2 Detroit
                                     Pittsburgh -6 1/2 Cleveland
                                     Seattle--St. Louis UNDER 43

NORM'S LATE THOUGHTS: This is always a tricky weekend in the NFL. Some teams will "phone it in today."  Some "out of it" teams will play their hearts out. The betting public often rushes to wager on teams in "need" and fairly often that strategy burns them because the line has been adjusted far upward to compensate for that "need."  Quite frankly, I was about to give you today that selection of Seattle--St. Louis UNDER when one of the other top handicappers we consult gave it out as a play. More and more I do believe that Philly is the solid side in the Dallas game. Cheers and Happy New Year.
